The ISP Maths Challenge is all about bringing the ISP community together, that’s why early years teachers will get access to an array of games, videos and stories to join in on the maths fun and support early numeracy learning.
The development of numeracy and number sense is fundamental to the understanding of mathematical concepts, by blending number tasks with story-telling, augmented reality, and video, the ISP Maths Challenge will be fantastic for early learners too!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
This event is exclusive to ISP schools. Schools must register before the start of the warm-up period to be eligible for prizes.
- ISP students aged 5 – 18
- Free to participate
- Students can access the activities at home or in school
- Students can participate on any device with an internet connection
- Under 5’s cannot participate in the competition but there will be free resources with exciting games to help even the youngest ISP student to improve their maths and problem-solving
The ISP Maths Challenge will encourage and motivate students through a games-based learning approach, enabling differentiation for individual students and rewarding improvement. The competition is designed to support students to practice and improve their maths skills through creative activities that balance play and learning.

Once you’ve registered your school on this page, we’ll take you through the process of getting Mathletics accounts for all of your students. Don’t worry, it’s quick and easy!
We’ll email you the Launch Kit once you register, but you can also find it here.
Competition week will run from 30th Nov – 6th Dec UTC , only points scored within this period will count towards each student’s competition score.
The winning students will be those with the most participation points, participation points can be scored in the Activities and Live Mathletics sections only.
Prizes will be awarded to:
- 1st, 2nd and 3nd place: The 3 students with the most participation points
- School champion: The student in each school with the most participation points
- Team prizes: the top 5 teams with the most participation points
- Top 5 Schools for engagement on social media
Students earn 1 point per correct answer, or 2 points if they have selected their bonus level.
Earning points in Mathletics Curriculum Activities By by completing activities in the ‘Learn’ area, students earn 10 points per correct answer, with a maximum of 300 points from any individual activity during the competition period.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place: The top 3 students with the highest number of participation points will win £200 to spend in the Tech Will Save Us shop. Tech Will Save Us have a wide range of tech toys for kids aged 4+. Designed around themes like music, gaming and craft, their kits combine digital learning with hands-on technology. Tech Will Save Us is a UK shop, but ships internationally to all ISP countries.
Top student in each school: The student in each participating school with the highest number of participation points will win a Sphero Mini – a programmable robot and STEAM-based educational tool. Build your own mazes, obstacles, towers and other courses to navigate through the living room or kitchen! Equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, and colourful LED lights, this educational robot is more than a mini robot toy.
Top 5 teams: The 5 teams with the highest average participation points will win Mathletics membership for one class (up to 30 students) until the end of July 2021, enabling them to continue their journey in practicing and improving their maths and problem-solving skills through games-based learning.
Top 5 social engagements: During the competition we will be running some fun social media challenges for schools to show-off how they are getting involved. The 5 schools who engage most creatively will win Mathletics membership for one class (up to 30 students) until the end of July 2021.
