This content relates to schools in New Zealand as part of the Make It Count maths initiative. Mathletics continues to support curriculum-aligned maths learning globally.
We’re proud to share an important update for schools in Aotearoa.
Mathletics is now an approved Ministry-funded maths resource under New Zealand’s Make It Count action plan.
Already trusted by schools for online learning, Mathletics now expands into print with a complete programme for Years 0–8, combining student workbooks, teacher guides and lesson plans with the Mathletics and Mathseeds online platforms.
Fully funded by the Ministry of Education and available for the 2027 school year.
What is Make It Count?
Make It Count is the Government’s maths action plan, focused on improving student outcomes across curriculum, workforce and assessment. The goal is for 80% of Year 8 students to be at or above expected curriculum levels by 2030.
As part of this initiative, the Ministry has funded structured maths resources for all primary and intermediate schools, allowing schools to choose from approved suppliers for each learning phase.

What schools receive
The Mathletics Programme is a complete teaching and learning system. Schools that select Mathletics receive:
- Printed Student Workbooks (Years 0–8) – write-in workbooks, 1:1 per student, replaced annually.
- Printed Teacher Guides – term and weekly overviews with teaching guidance, one per teacher.
- Daily Lesson Plans – downloadable plans with learning intentions, success criteria and differentiation strategies.
- Mathseeds (Years 0–3) and Mathletics (Years 0–8) – online platforms with adaptive learning, real-time reporting and immediate student feedback.
- Professional Learning and Development – a structured PLD programme included at no extra cost to support teacher implementation.
All resources are fully funded by the Ministry of Education.

Written for the New Zealand Curriculum
Every component of the programme has been written specifically for New Zealand classrooms and is mapped directly to the Knowledge and Practices framework of the Mathematics and Statistics learning area.
Grounded in the Science of Learning, the programme delivers explicit, systematic instruction with clearly sequenced lessons and a year-by-year progression from Years 0 to 8.
Each lesson follows a consistent I Do, We Do, You Do structure, giving teachers a clear pathway for what to teach, when to teach it and how to teach it.
Content also reflects New Zealand contexts throughout, with local references, New Zealand currency and culturally relevant examples that make learning meaningful and relevant for students.

A programme that grows with your students
The Mathletics Programme provides a structured, coherent pathway from Years 0 to 8:
- Years 0–3: Building strong foundations with Mathseeds and Mathletics.
- Years 4–6: Deepening understanding and application.
- Years 7–8: Preparing students for secondary mathematics.
Ordering opens in Term 2 and Term 3 2026, with resources delivered ready for Term 1 2027.

How it supports teachers and students
The Mathletics Programme is designed to reduce planning time, support consistent instruction and give teachers real-time visibility into student progress.
