When Winchester British International School took part in World Maths Day<\/a><\/strong> 2022, teachers were in for a surprise.<\/p>\n

The response and results exceeded their expectations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was marvellous… it was really competitive between students and teachers from the same year group,\u201d said Sara El Faramawy, the school\u2019s mathematics teacher.<\/p>\n<\/div>

How the school prepared for World Maths Day<\/h3>\n

\"Why<\/p>\n

Preparation for World Maths Day started a month before the event. Sara explains the process; students from Year 1 and above first log in and play against the computer at their level or a higher level.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe let them challenge the question, not the time,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

As students were practising, the teachers would check on the questions’ objectives. If students received a question that was not covered in their curriculum, they would receive \u201clessons and tips on how to answer.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a week of practice on Live Mathletics, the next step was for students to compete in groups, where \u201ceach group will sit together and try to solve the questions together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, they move on to practising individually, where they compete based on their times.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
